GTfusiOn GTSport Team World Championship Round 4
It's time to start the second part of the GTfusiOn Gran Turismo World Team Championship 2020 with a round 4 that will pay tribute , almost to the day , one year after Audi’s very first victory in Japan’s biggest endurance race at the Belgian WRT team and its Audi R8 LMS GT3 N.25 driven by Belgians Fred Vervisch , Dries Vanthoor and the South-African Kelvin van der Linden who won this Sunday 25 August 2019 the 10 Hours of Suzuka, fourth of the five events of the Intercontinental GT Challenge.
After a good start to the race from BMW, the Audi of the Belgian WRT team took control during the third hour. Maintaining a permanent lead of about 30 seconds over its closest competitors, the crew did not shake, despite a problem with the rear-view mirror during the last pit stop.
Who is W Racing Team? Known as Team WRT, they are a professional racing team, founded in 2009 and based in Baudour, Belgium. The team was created on the initiative of former car driver Vincent Vosse and entrepreneur Yves Weerts. Today, the team is led by Co-CEO team Kathleen Schurmans and Vincent Vosse. Pascal Weerts is Chairman of the Board of Directors of WRT. In 2020, the team organizes racing programs in GT World Challenge Europe, DTM, Intercontinental GT Challenge, ADAC GT Masters and others.
Since WRT became the owner of AMP, it has been developing safety rods for several of the world’s largest motor sport programs.
Over the years, the team has demonstrated its versatility by winning a multitude of races and titles at various prestigious GT and touring car championships around the world. At the end of 2018, WRT proudly won 36 titles.
The Suzuka circuit is one of the most popular motorsport Circuits. Located at Suzuka, 50 km from Nagoya and 150 km from Osaka, it was designed by Dutch designer John Hugenholtz at the personal request of Soichiro Honda as a test track for the brand. Since its opening, it has hosted numerous events for both motorbikes and cars. It has been the setting for the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix since 1987, and some famous episodes of the championship have occurred there.This circuit has the particularity of being in eight and not in loop, a bridge spanning a track sector.
